SEM - Ms. Kelly Presentation on LOGO and BRANDING
The process of a single brand or logo had a large effect on how a company or product will be portrayed and leave a lasting effect on a consumer or audience.
Ms. Kelly came to our Media class to discuss the process of the new SEM logo and branding methods. She told us about the companies pitch to the school about how they would like to help us market our school in the new direction we were headed. There were extensive meetings and review committees that would analyze the different options brought to the school by the selected PR Company.
The company had created a book for the school to look at that would compare our logo to other private schools in the city of Buffalo, aka SEM’s competition. They would then go into detail about the branding of SEM’s name and slogans the school would use to “sell” themselves to girls all over the world. This process was very long and extensive and involved a lot of research in order to produce something the review committee would find fit SEM’s existing image but would also fall into the new image the school was looking to create.
Being interested in media and communications, and in specific strategic communications, I found this to be very interesting. I thought the evolution of the process was intriguing and that the results were beneficial to what the school was looking for. Although there is always back lash from changes in anything, the branding and new promotions of the school make sense as to what they were looking for. Brands are always changing and adapting to the ever evolving society and media around us.
